Miggy's Farewell Performance: Three Hits in Detroit
Tigers Fall to Cleveland, Cabrera Honored by Red Sox
Miggy Delivers in Detroit
Miguel Cabrera's farewell tour in Detroit got off to a solid start on Monday night, as he delivered three hits in the first act of his final series with the Tigers. Cabrera singled twice and doubled in the game, driving in one run and scoring another. However, the Tigers fell to the Cleveland Guardians by a score of 5-3, spoiling Cabrera's return.
Red Sox Honor Miggy
Prior to the game, the Boston Red Sox honored Cabrera with a number 24 scoreboard panel from Fenway Park's famed "Green Monster." The panel commemorates Cabrera's 24th and final season in Major League Baseball, as well as his historic career achievements.
Tigers Struggle
Despite Cabrera's strong performance, the Tigers struggled offensively as a team. They managed just five hits against the Guardians' pitching staff, and struck out 10 times. The loss dropped the Tigers to 64-79 on the season, and further cemented their status as one of the worst teams in baseball.
